    Un phrasal verb es un verbo + una partícula (up, out, on, off…) que juntos significan algo distinto del verbo suelto: give (dar) → give up (rendirse). Son omnipresentes en el inglés real y hablado, y de lo que más suena natural cuando los usas bien. El truco: no los traduzcas pieza a pieza; apréndelos como un bloque con su significado.

    ¿Separable o no?

    Muchos son separables: el objeto puede ir en medio — turn the light off / turn off the light. Pero un pronombre va SIEMPRE en medio: turn it off (no turn off it).
    Otros son inseparables: look after the baby (no look the baby after).

    El error típico del hispanohablante

    No traduzcas literal: give up no es “dar arriba”. Y cuida el registro: los phrasal verbs son informales; su equivalente de una palabra (continue vs carry on, tolerate vs put up with) es más formal.

    Saber la regla es fácil. Aprobar el Aptis es otra cosa.
