Causa pasada → resultado presente: If + past perfect, would + verbo base
Causa presente → resultado pasado: If + past simple, would + have + participio
Si no fuera tan tímido, le habría pedido salir.

    El error típico del hispanohablante

Ajusta cada mitad a su tiempo: causa pasada = had + participio; resultado presente = would + verbo (sin "have").
Fíjate en las palabras de tiempo: now / today marcan la mitad presente, así que es would be, no "would have been".
